Champions Trophy 2025: Full list of teams that qualified for the event in Pakistan

The league stage of the 2023 World Cup came to an end with India beating the Netherlands at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. With the league stage’s conclusion, the eight participating teams for the 2025 Champions Trophy have now also been decided. The International Cricket Council (ICC) made the announcement in October that the top seven teams, apart from hosts Pakistan, at the end of the World Cup league stage, in India, will qualify for the Champions Trophy, scheduled to take place in Pakistan in 2025. They were joined by South Africa, who secured the second spot, along with Australia in third place and New Zealand claiming the fourth and final semi-final berth at the 2023 World Cup.

Pakistan had already qualified as hosts of the 2025 Champions Trophy, while Afghanistan, who finished the World in sixth place, are now all set to make their debut appearance in the tournament. Afghanistan’s qualification came after an impressive World Cup performance, registering four wins in nine games. England, who almost seemed to be on the brink of missing the qualification cut, reached the Champions Trophy having claimed the seventh spot on the World Cup points table. Bangladesh also earned their ticket to the Champions Trophy as they secured the eighth position in the World Cup standings. However, 2002 winners Sri Lanka failed to qualify, finishing ninth after losing seven of their nine World Cup matches. The Netherlands, despite having an impressive tournament with wins over South Africa and Bangladesh, ended at the bottom of the table and failed to make the cut. As per ICC regulations, full-member nations like West Indies, Zimbabwe and Ireland will miss out on the Champions Trophy event since they did not qualify for the World Cup 2023. A dominant Team India ended the league stage with an impressive nine-match winning streak at the World Cup. In their last game, India beat the Netherlands in Bangalore by 160 runs. They will now take on New Zealand in the semi-finals on Wednesday. South Africa and Australia will line up against each other in the other semi-final on Thursday.
