Bumrah leaves out part crediting himself while translating for Siraj after India’s win at Cape Town

The standout performances of Mohammed Siraj (6/15 in first innings) and Jasprit Bumrah (6/61 in second innings), grabbed all the headlines as India bagged the second Test by seven wickets against South Africa on Day 2 in Cape Town. In the post-match presentation, Jasprit Bumrah displayed his humility. He was serving as a translator for Mohammed Siraj, who credited Bumrah for his bowling assistance. Bumrah, when translating to English, modestly attributed their success to the collective experience of the duo and the team management. This selfless gesture by Bumrah caught the attention of fans who widely shared the video of the interaction on social media. Here is what Siraj said: “Jassi bhai hamesha jab start karte hain toh message milta hai ki kya wicket pe kon si line or length better hai. Toh wo message milne se mujhe zyada sochne ki zarurat nahi rehti hai, bas consistent wo chiz pe work karenge to success milega. Bas yahi. Wo saamne end pe rahe toh bohot hi acha lagta hai” WATCH:

Bumrah was humble when reframing the statement to emphasise the team bonding and skipped his personal contribution. “So yeah, because when we play along together, he gets the message earlier because of your experience. We try to analyse the wicket quicker so that communication goes in the bowling circuit that this is the wicket and this is what we are looking to do. So that helps him sometimes,” said Bumrah. The Indian cricket team ended their tour of South Africa with a decisive seven-wicket victory in the second Test, levelling the series at 1-1. Despite South Africa managing to secure a slim lead of 78, India’s batsmen adopted an aggressive approach, successfully chasing down the target in 12 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal set the ground running with a rapid 23-ball 28 at the top order and extinguished any remaining hope for South Africa. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli made brief contributions, but Rohit Sharma held his ground at one end, while Shreyas Iyer, despite facing a few intimidating short deliveries, ultimately struck the winning runs against Marcus Jansen with a lofted drive over mid-on.
