One of the biggest if not the biggest fixture of world cricket – the India vs Australia Test series also known as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is set to begin Down Under shortly. The Team India is currently in Perth preparing for the first Test of the five-match series which will start on 22 November. This will be the first time India will play a five-match Test series against Australia Test series after 1992/93.
Team India will be captained by Rohit Sharm in the series, however, the opener is set to miss the first Test in Perth as he has stayed back in India for the birth of his second child. Jasprit Bumrah will captain the visitors in Rohit’s absence who is expected to join the team before the second Test in Adelaide.
Despite losing 3-0 at home against New Zealand , India will enter the Test series as favourites, having won the last four Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. India also won the Test series in Australia on their last two tours, in 2018-19 and 2020-21.
