Asia Cup 2023 Final, India vs Sri Lanka LIVE Updates: India will be looking to win the Asia Cup title after a gap of five years when they take on co-hosts Sri Lanka in the final of the 2023 edition at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo Sunday. India last won the Asia Cup in 2018, while Sri Lanka are the defending champions having won the 2022 edition. The 2022 edition however was played in the T20 format. India have won a record seven Asia Cups so far with six of them coming in the ODI format. Sri Lanka have also won the Asia Cup six times with five of them coming in the ODI format. The final also gives a big opportunity for both teams to secure a confidence-boosting title ahead of the World Cup which starts on 5 October in India. The final is also an opportunity for India to bring an end to their title drought in a multi-national tournament. The last time they won a multi-national tournament was also in Asia Cup 2018. They also haven’t won an ICC trophy since 2013. Meanwhile, there have been a few injury issues for the teams. Sri Lanka spinner Maheesh Theekshana will miss the final due to a hamstring injury, while Axar Patel is out for India due to a left quadricep strain sustained during the game against Bangladesh. Colombo weather update: Rain is set to interrupt the Asia Cup final as there’s a forecast for rain in the afternoon and evening. INDIA CLINCH THE ASIA CUP TITLE! What a clinical, dominant display from the Men in Blue as they win their eighth Asia Cup title with a 10-wicket win over Sri Lanka. Earlier, Sri Lanka had been bowled out for just 50 runs after Mohammed Siraj’s six-wicket haul, and in reply, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill ade light work of the chase, sealing the deal in less than 10 overs.
