Rajasthan Royals take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2024 Eliminator at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Wednesday (22 May). RR were the second team to qualify for the playoffs but missed out on a top-two spot after a run of poor form, losing four out of their last five matches while the Rajsthan’s final league game was washed out.

RCB, on the other hand, qualified for playoffs after beating defending champions Chennai Super Kings in their final league game as CSK were eliminated. They came fourth with 14 points from 14 matches while RR accumulated 17 points and finished third.

The loser of the Eliminator will be knocked out from IPL 2024 while the winner will advance to Qualifier 2 where they will face either Kolkata Knight Riders or Sunrisers Hyderabad. KKR take on SRH in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday (21 May) .

Ahed of the IPL 2024 Eliminator, here’s how the weather forecast for Ahmedabad.

The RR vs RCB match will start at 7.30 PM IST on Tuesday (22 May).

As per AccuWeather.com, the temperature in Ahmedabad on 22 May can go as high as 45 degrees Celsius and there’s a 0% chance of precipitation which means rain should not play any role in the match. The temperature is also expected to dip to 42 degrees Celsius by 8 PM and to 39 degrees Celcius by 10 PM. Humidity is expected to be around 16-21% during the match time.

RR vs RCB: What happens if rain plays spoilsport?

The chances of rain are next to zero during the Eliminator but in case the match is interrupted, an extra 120 minutes will be provided to complete the match on Wednesday.

Here’s what the rule says: “In the event of a delayed start or interruption, the provision of sixty minutes (or one hundred and twenty minutes for play-off matches) extra time is to be used first, followed by the time allocated for ‘time outs’ and then the reduction in the innings change interval (if applicable).”

“For the play-off matches, in addition to the extra time referred to above, there may be reserve days (on which an incomplete play-off match shall be completed).”

If the match is not completed even after adding 120 minutes to the allowed time then the match can move to the reserve day. All four IPL 2024 playoff matches have reserve days.

On the reserve day, however, the match will be rescheduled and played from the start to ensure that rain doesn’t impact the final result.

What happens if match is washed out on the reserve day?

If the RR vs RCB Eliminator doesn’t finish on the reserve day as well then the winner will be decided on their league position. In the case of the Eliminator, RR will win as they finished over RCB .
