India defeated Australia by 24 runs in St Lucia on Monday to storm into the semi-finals unbeaten with three wins in as many Super 8 fixtures. This was Australia’s second defeat on the trot, following their stunning 21-run loss against Afghanistan in St Vincent on Saturday.

Though on the brink of an exit, Australia can still qualify for the semi-finals if Bangladesh end up defeating Afghanistan by less than 61 runs or by taking more than 13 overs to chase down whatever target is set to them.

A Bangladeshi victory by a margin equal to or greater than the aforementioned numbers will result in the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side progressing to the semi-finals.

As for the Afghans, who thrashed New Zealand by 84 runs in the group stage before their victory over Australia, a victory by any margin will suffice, as will a washout.
