CoE clears Shubman Gill

Gill was completing his rehabilitation programme at Bengaluru’s Centre of Excellence and after assessment he has been cleared to participate in the entire T20I series.

“Shubman Gill has successfully completed his rehabilitation at CoE and has met the requisite criteria to be declared fit for all formats of the game,” a communication from the Centre of Excellence stated to the Sports Science and Medicine (SSM) team according to a report in the Times of India.

The SSM team includes physio Kamlesh Jain, strength and conditioning coach Adrian Le Roux, and sports doctor Dr Charles.

Apart from clearing all the rehabilitation protocols in Bengaluru, Gill also underwent full-intensity batting and fielding sessions in simulated match conditions to prove full fitness.

Gill, the captain of the Indian team in Tests and ODIs, was promoted as the deputy skipper in the T20 team ahead of the Asia Cup. He also opened for the side in the Asia Cup and then in the series in Australia, suggesting that the team management is looking at him as the regular opening option going into the 2026 T20 World Cup.
