Silencing all his detractors, India captain Shubman Gill has struck a memorable century in the most needful of situations in Manchester on Day 5 of the 4th Test against England. Coming into the middle when India were reeling at 0/2, the team was desperately banking on Gill to score, and the skipper delivered with the bat to take India out of dire straits. After resuming the knock at 78* on Day 5, he steadily approached his hundred and eventually got there in the 83rd over of the innings.
As Gill had already amassed a sizeable total in the series, the century knock has taken him past the monumental figure of 700. In the course, Gill has smashed a number of records and etched his name among some of the most prominent men in the sport.
