Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Shashank Singh became a victim of captain Shreyas Iyer’s anger after the team’s win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Qualifier 2 on Sunday. PBKS qualified for the IPL 2025 final as a result of their five-wicket win , which was scripted on the back of Iyer’s attacking 87-run knock from 41 balls.
During the post-match celebration, Iyer was seen giving Shashank an earful when he approached his skipper to congratulate him for the victory. Shashank had been run out in the match for just 2 runs during a crucial phase of the chase.

Iyer did not shy away from expressing his displeasure and the video going viral on social media suggests that the Indian batter must have used some expletives as well. Shashank looked disappointed with how Iyer treated him but remained silent, possibly admitting his mistake.
Shashank was run out by Hardik Pandya during the 17th over of the chase when Punjab Kings still needed 36 runs in 21 balls. The match was pretty much in balance, with Shashank, who has earned the reputation of a finisher, at the crease. But he suffered an unfortunate run out in Qualifier 2 due to his lackadaisical running between the wickets.

Shashank was run out at the non-striker’s end after hitting a shot to mid-off. While at first glance, it looked like he was safe, replays showed that he was caught short after some very lethargic running. The batter did not even dive to try and save his wicket.
