Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma was seen visiting Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai on Monday, sparking concern among his fans. In a video that is going viral on social media, Rohit was spotted walking into the hospital while reporters tried to ask him questions. The 38-year-old avoided interaction and went straight inside.
Rohit raises concerns amid hospital visit
The reason for his visit is still not known, which has left fans worried as Rohit is expected to return for India in the upcoming ODI series against Australia. Rohit last played for India during the 2025 Champions Trophy in February, where he successfully lifted the title.

His most recent competitive match was for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Rohit has already retired from Tests and T20Is and is expected to feature for India in the 50-over format only. His likely comeback is scheduled for the ODI series against Australia in October.
Rohit recently underwent a fitness assessment test at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. He was also spotted training with former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in Mumbai before the test at the BCCI’s academy.
Rohit’s captaincy post under threat
The upcoming ODI series is very important for Rohit because it could decide his future in the format. If he keeps his place in the team after the series, he might continue as captain for the 2027 ODI World Cup. But even if he stays in the team, there is a chance Rohit could lose the captaincy to Shubman Gill.
Some reports have claimed that the Indian selectors are planning to make Gill the captain in all formats, and a final decision could be made after the 2026 T20 World Cup. Gill took over as India’s Test captain after Rohit announced his retirement in May. Gill was recently made the vice-captain of the T20 team for the 2025 Asia Cup.
