Shama Mohamed calls Rohit Sharma ‘fat’

“- @ImRo45 is fat for a sportsman! Need to lose weight! And ofcourse the most unimpressive Captain India has ever had !” she wrote on X in a post that was deleted later.

Despite Mohamed’s dig on Rohit’s fitness and leadership skills, India went on to beat New Zealand by 44 runs, setting up a Champions trophy 2025 semi-final against Australia .

While Rohit or Team India players have not reacted to Mohamed’s post, BJP spokesperson Radhika Khera was quick to point out that the Congress politician was indulging in body-shaming.

BJP hits back at Congress after Rohit criticism

She also questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s political record.

“Congress spokesperson body-shaming @ImRo45 - The sheer audacity! This is the same Congress that humiliated athletes for decades, denied them recognition, and now dares to mock a cricketing legend? The party that thrives on nepotism is lecturing a self-made champion?” Radhika Khera wrote on X.

“Rohit Sharma is a World Cup-winning captain. Your leader, @RahulGandhi can’t even captain his own party without crashing it into the ground!”

“Mr. @Jairam_Ramesh instead of your team spewing cheap insults at a man who has brought glory to India, you & ur spokespersons should focus on the real ‘weight’ your party is shedding—relevance, credibility, and elections!

“Congress should worry about its own sinking dynast before taking cheap shots at India’s pride!”

Meanwhile, Rajdeep Sardesai also countered Mohamed’s criticism by claiming that Rohit has won multiple IPL titles as a captain and leads the best white-ball team in the world.

“@ImRo45 makes some first class decisions that shows he has a SUPERB cricket brain. He has won multiple IPL titles as captain and has led a white ball team that’s the best in the world. IMHO, Rohit Sharma has been a wonderful captain for Team India, someone who leads from the front and plays a fearless brand of cricket in white ball games .”

Mohamed hit back by claiming that Rohit’s decision to open in the MCG Test against Australia in December “backfired totally” and India also lost the 2023 World Cup final under his leadership. This post has also been deleted now.

“Didn’t he move KL Rahul to bat at number 3 at the MCG Test & put himself at number 1 which backfired totally ! Wasn’t that a selfish move ? Because of that Shubam Gill was out of the XI . Didn’t we lose the last World Cup which took place in Ahmedabad? I have compared him to our previous captains.”

India’s Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final against Australia will be played in Dubai on Tuesday.
