Arshdeep Singh produced a death-bowling masterclass on Tuesday as Punjab Kings restricted Royal Challengers Bengaluru to 190/9 after opting to field in the final of the 2025 Indian Premier League in Ahmedabad.
Arshdeep had conceded 37 runs in his first three overs of the evening, including 13 in the very first over. RCB appeared set for a 200-plus total after reaching 187/6 at the end of the penultimate over, with West Indian all-rounder Romario Shepherd batting on 17 off 8 balls after smashing a four and a six in consecutive deliveries.

Arshdeep, PBKS’ leading wicket-taker this season, put up a death-bowling clinic by dismissing Shepherd as well as Krunal Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar after being entrusted with the final over of the innings. What made the over even more impressive was the fact that he conceded just three singles to ensure RCB fell 10 short of the 200-mark. Arshdeep finished with figures of 3/40, signing off with 21 wickets in the 18th IPL season.
Kohli misses out on a half-century
Earlier, RCB batting superstar Virat Kohli missed out on a half-century in what is his fourth IPL final, getting dismissed for 43 off 35 balls to sign off with 657 runs at the end of the season. The former captain also finished as the pick of the RCB batters with his knock.
Kohli built steady partnerships with Mayank Agarwal and captain Rajat Patidar after in-form opener Phil Salt perished early, and appeared set for his ninth half-century of the season when he top-edged a well-directed bouncer from Afghan seam-bowling all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai, who dashed to his right and completed a fine sliding catch near midwicket.
Impact Shorts
More ShortsPBKS captain Shreyas Iyer had earlier won the toss and opted to field in the IPL 2025 final, with both teams naming unchanged XIs.
