Salt also welcomed New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson into the attack with a four in the following over, but paid the price for playing a shot too many, sending the ball high in the air towards long on without getting enough power on the shot to clear the boundary rope.

Iyer, who was stationed at mid on, followed the trajectory of the ball by back-pedalling towards the boundary rope but kept his eyes glued on the ball throughout, and ended up completing an outstanding catch to help Jamieson draw first blood for the Kings.

Salt had smashed an unbeaten 56 to steer RCB to an 8-wicket victory with half of their overs to spare in Qualifier 1 after the Rajat Patidar-led side bowled PBKS out for just 101. Salt, however, departed for a 9-ball 16 in the grand finale in Ahmedabad.

Despite losing Salt with 18 runs on the board, RCB managed to make a quick recovery to reach 55/1 at the end of the powerplay with new batter Mayank Agarwal and Virat Kohli batting on 24 and 13 respectively.
