West Indian batting legend Chris Gayle was among those in attendance in Ahmedabad, where the final of the 2025 Indian Premier League between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings is currently taking place. The showdown between the teams that finished top of the table at the league stage is a special one for the ‘Universe Boss’ as he was part of both franchises during his 12-year run in the world’s biggest T20 league, besides representing Kolkata Knight Riders in his first two seasons.
So which team is Gayle supporting in Tuesday’s marquee clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium? Gayle did represent RCB for a majority of his IPL career, where he was part of a dream top-order trio alongside Virat Kohli and AB de Villers.
Gayle expresses support for ‘one India’ in RCB-PBKS final
Gayle, however, expressed his support for both franchises in the final by wearing a turban and donning and RCB jersey.
“It’s one India. I’m from Jamaica. But it’s one India, always one India. Don’t mind what I’m wearing. My turban, my RCB shirt, my RCB shoes. Both teams I represent, and I love both teams,” Gayle said in a chat with RCB.
“Thanks to RCB for having me here. I really and truly appreciate it. So thanks so much for inviting me to the final. I’m going to support each and every one and we’re going to have a good game tonight,” he added.
