The Allahabad High Court has granted relief to Indian cricketer Yash Dayal , staying his arrest in a case of alleged sexual exploitation filed against him in Ghaziabad. The court also directed that no coercive action should be taken against the 27-year-old fast bowler, who currently represents Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL, until the next hearing.
High Court stays Yash Dayal’s arrest
According to PTI, a division bench of Justices Siddhartha Varma and Anil Kumar passed the order on Dayal’s petition challenging the FIR. His lawyer, Gaurav Tripathi, confirmed that the interim protection has been granted to the pacer. The FIR was registered on 6 July at Indirapuram police station under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with sexual intercourse by deceitful means.
According to the complaint, the woman alleged that she met Dayal around five years ago and he promised to marry her. However, he kept delaying the marriage and she later discovered that he was allegedly involved with other women as well. The woman initially submitted her complaint online through the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s grievance portal in June.
Dayal, who made headlines for his performances in IPL 2025, has not commented on the matter yet. However, in his counter-complaint with the Prayagraj police , Dayal claimed that the woman stole his iPhone and laptop, and borrowed money from him by giving him wrong information.
As per NDTV, Yash Dayal explained that he connected with the woman who later lodged complaint against him on Instagram in 2021, after which they started communicating frequently.
The report added that Dayal accused the woman of “borrowing lakhs of rupees from him for medical treatment for herself and her family, promising to repay, but that hasn’t happened to date.” He also alleged that she “repeatedly borrowed money from him for shopping.”
Dayal and his RCB made history by winning the IPL this year. RCB won its first-ever IPL title in 18 years, and Dayal played a crucial part in their campaign.
