Bengaluru stampede: RCB announce Rs 10 lakh compensation for families of deceased, injured to receive support

RCB have announced Rs 10 lakh compensation for families of victims who died in the Bengaluru stampede during their IPL 2025 victory celebration. They have also created a new fund to support the injured.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of the 11 people who died in the tragic stampede that took place outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the team’s IPL victory celebrations on Wednesday. This happened after the RCB team arrived in Bengaluru following their 6-run win over Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final.

RCB issue statement on compensation

In an official statement, RCB said the incident has brought “a lot of anguish and pain” to the entire RCB family. As a mark of respect and support, the franchise has decided to give Rs 10 lakh to each of the families who lost their loved ones. RCB also announced the creation of a special fund called “RCB Cares”, which will be used to help those who were injured in the incident.

“The unfortunate incident in Bengaluru yesterday has caused a lot of anguish and pain to the RCB family. As a mark of respect and a gesture of solidarity, RCB has announced a financial support of INR 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased. In addition, a fund called RCB Cares is also being created to support fans injured in this tragic incident. Our fans will always remain at the heart of everything that we do. We remain united in grief,” the statement read.

The stampede happened during RCB’s victory event in Bengaluru after the team returned home following their maiden IPL title win. The celebrations turned tragic when a massive crowd gathered outside the Chinnaswamy stadium, leading to a stampede that claimed 11 lives and left 33 others injured.

The entire RCB team was at the Vidhana Soudha at the time of the incident, where they were being felicitated by the Karnataka government. They were scheduled to go to the stadium afterward, and in anticipation of that, a large number of people had gathered there.

The Siddaramaiah government and the RCB team continued their programme even after receiving news of the stampede. Karnataka’s deputy CM DK Shivakumar has claimed that as soon as they were informed, they wrapped up the event quickly.
