Ranchi weather forecast today: Rain should not be a problem as India take on South Africa in the first ODI at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association International Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday (30 November). It’s a three-match ODI series with matches also planned at Raipur and Vishakhapatnam.

India will be aiming to avenge their Test series whitewash defeat to South Africa by winning the ODI series, and they have got perfect conditions in Ranchi to do that. As per AccuWeather, there’s 0% chance of rain on Sunday (30 November) in Ranchi.

The temperatures in Ranchi would be pleasant, hovering between 22 and 15 degrees Celsius during the match time. The India vs South Africa first ODI will start at 1.30 PM IST, and the toss will take place at 1 PM IST.

While the probability of precipitation stands at 0%, there would be a solid cloud cover, and we can also expect dew in the evening, which means the team winning the toss would most likely pick to bat second.

South Africa batting coach Ashwell Prince also said on the eve of the match that they are expecting a lot of dew during the second innings.

“Our homework tells us there’s a lot of dew expected. Teams tend to prefer chasing if they win the toss. But if you get a good pitch upfront and post a massive score, it can affect the chasing team because they feel they have to start at a high tempo and that’s when you can lose wickets. If we bat first, we’ll need to post a formidable score to apply pressure,” Prince said.

Ranchi has dished out slow tracks at the JSCA International Stadium in the recent past. It has black-soil surfaces that initially help seamers with some movement but eventually favours the spinners.

However, as it’s early winter and there is some grass on the pitch, the pitch is expected to hold itself better than before, which means pacers should ideally be more impactful and the batters would need to be watchful in the early overs. The batting must become easier in the middle overs.
