Prithvi Shaw was involved in a heated altercation with his former Mumbai teammates on Tuesday, as he has been accused of trying to hold Musheer Khan’s collar after his dismissal. The incident occurred on the opening day of a three-day friendly match between Mumbai and Maharashtra at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Gahunje, Pune.

For the unversed, Shaw, who played all his domestic cricket until now for Mumbai, left the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) in June 2025 in search of change after continuous struggle with form and fitness issues.

Shaw, who now plays for the Maharashtra team, smashed an impressive 181 off 220 balls after opening the batting in the friendly match. He also accumulated 21 fours and three sixes besides stitching a 305-run opening partnership with Arshin Kulkarni.

However, the match soon descended into chaos after he was dismissed by former teammate Musheer Khan, the brother of India batter Sarfaraz Khan. Shaw reportedly raised his bat to Musheer and also tried to hold his collar.

Sources have informed Cricbuzz that Shaw’s reaction was a result of “intense” sledging during the opening day of the match. After he was caught by Irfan Umair at the square leg boundary, Musheer reportedly sledged him for one final time by saying, “Thank you.”

This reportedly ticked off Shaw, who lost his cool and decided to confront Musheer, forcing an umpire to step in and take control of the proceedings. Shaw was then escorted out of the field.

“It’s a practice match. They are all former teammates. Such things happen. It’s all ok now and there is no issue,” Maharashtra captain Ankit Bhawne was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

It remains to be seen whether disciplinary action will be taken against Shaw. However, the cricketer needs to be careful as he has faced similar disciplinary allegations in the past.

Only 25, Shaw last played for India in 2021. Overall, he has played 12 international matches across three formats, scoring 528 runs.
