Player Bio

Zakir Hasan is a left-handed top-order batter from Bangladesh, known for his aggressive yet composed style of play and his versatility across formats. He began his domestic journey with a First-class debut for Sylhet Division back in 2015, followed by his List A debut in 2016. His T20 debut came during the 2016 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), representing the Rajshahi Kings, where he made an immediate impression with his sharp stroke-making ability.

In the domestic circuit, Zakir steadily grew into a dependable batter, racking up centuries and fifties in the National Cricket League (NCL) and the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL). One of his standout moments came in 2022 when he notched up a marathon double century in a First-class match playing for East Zone, reinforcing his reputation as a player with the temperament and skill for longer formats. His consistent performances earned him a recall to the national radar.

Zakir made his Test debut for Bangladesh in December 2022 against India, and he made it count in style scoring a brilliant century in the fourth innings, becoming only the fourth Bangladeshi batter to achieve that feat on debut. It was a knock filled with maturity, defiance, and strokeplay against a quality Indian attack, and it instantly made him one of the brightest prospects for Bangladesh in red-ball cricket. The following year, he played his first ODI in the series against New Zealand, but he was already an international player five years back when he made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka in 2018.

Though he has played in the BPL for multiple franchises including Rajshahi Kings and Sylhet Strikers, his role has mostly been as a flexible batter who can play both as an opener and in the middle order. His best season was the 2024-25 one where he scored 389 runs in 12 games. Zakir remains a key figure in Bangladesh's long-term Test plans and continues to develop his white-ball game with hopes of becoming a consistent three-format player for the national side.
