Biggest stats as India hold England to a draw: Gill and Co register narrowest Test win; Siraj tops bowling charts

India leveled the five-match Test series against England in style with a thrilling six-run victory over England on Day 5 of the series finale at The Oval, registering their narrowest victory in terms of runs in the process.

India’s six-run victory over England at The Oval is now their narrowest in Test cricket by margin of runs, surpassing their 13-run win against Australia in Mumbai in 2004. AP
England also are the first team to lose a Test by fewer than 10 runs while chasing a target above 300. AP
Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj signed off as the leading wicket-taker in the five-match series with 23 scalps to his name after sending down a mind-boggling 1,113 deliveries across the five Tests. AP

Shubman Gill captaincy analysis
Shubman Gill finished as the leading run-scorer in his maiden series as Test captain, collecting 754 runs at an average of 75.40. Only Don Bradman has scored more runs than him in a Test series as captain. Reuters
Joe Root became the first batter to score 500 or more runs in a series against India on three different occasions. A total of five batters including Ricky Ponting had achieved the feat twice in the past. Reuters
Harry Brook
Harry Brook brought up his 10th Test hundred in just 50 innings, which is the fastest in the last 80 years and the ninth-fastest overall. AFP
Harry Brook and Joe Root’s 195-run partnership for the fourth wicket at The Oval is now the second-highest in the fourth innings to end in a defeat, behind KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant’s 204-run stand at the same venue in 2018. Reuters
