PAK vs UAE, Asia Cup 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board has backed down from its boycott threat after failing to convince the ICC to remove match referee Andy Pycroft. The team has reached the Dubai International Stadium, ending hours of uncertainty over their participation. PCB now claims that Pycroft has apologised to team manager and captain.

The big drama around Pakistan’s Asia Cup match against UAE finally came to an end. For hours, it looked like Pakistan might not play the game after they protested against ICC match referee Andy Pycroft, but in the end the team reached the Dubai International Stadium and the match went ahead as planned. The problem started after the India-Pakistan match on September 14, when there was no handshake between the two captains at the toss. Pakistan said Pycroft had stopped the captains from shaking hands. PCB complained to the ICC and even demanded Pycroft be removed from their matches. The ICC rejected the demand and said Pycroft had done nothing wrong. PCB then threatened to boycott the game if Pycroft continues, but later decided to go for the match. The PCB has now claimed that Pycroft had apologised to Pakistan’s team manager and captain.

Pakistan's Asia Cup withdrawal drama LIVE: Why this controversy and what has happened so far?

The Pakistan vs UAE Asia Cup match has been surrounded by controversy following the handshake incident post their match against India.
