Mohsin Naqvi makes absurd claims in reaction to PM Modi's Operation Sindoor reference: 'History records your humiliating defeats'

Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC), has criticised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘dragging war into sport’ after India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the Asia Cup 2025 final on Sunday in Dubai.

Congratulating Team India on their record-extending ninth Asia Cup title, PM Modi made an Operation SIndoor reference as he wrote that India always emerges victorious against Pakistan, whether on the field of play or on the battlefield

“#OperationSindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same - India wins! Congrats to our cricketers,” Modi wrote on X.

Angry Naqvi criticises PM Modi

Enraged by the defeat and Team India’s refusal to take the trophy from him , Naqvi reportedly took the silverware back to the hotel. He has now also made a social media comment against PM Modi.

Sharing Modi’s post, Naqvi said that cricket cannot rewrite history, in which Pakistan has defeated India multiple times in wars.

“If war was your measure of pride, history already records your humiliating defeats at Pakistan’s hands. No cricket match can rewrite that truth. Dragging war into sport only exposes desperation and disgraces the very spirit of the game,” Naqvi wrote on X.

For the record, India have never lost a full-scale war against Pakistan. In fact, their victory in 1971 led to the creation of Bangladesh.

Now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to ask for the trophy and individual meals of Indian players from the ACC. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has already said they will be protesting against Naqvi at the ACC and ICC .

“We will be lodging a strong protest with the ACC and also at the ICC conference in November. Such behaviour cannot be allowed to set a precedent. Cricket is about fair play, and this was anything but fair play,” he said.
