With PSL 2025 just a day away, a press conference featuring Mohammad Rizwan turned unexpectedly entertaining when the Multan Sultans skipper was trolled by a Pakistani reporter over his now-familiar “win or learn” statement. The question sparked laughter in the room and left other Pakistani players seated at the table hard to suppress their laughter.
Rizwan gets trolled over ‘win or learn’ comment
Rizwan, who is also Pakistan’s ODI captain, was addressing the media ahead of Multan Sultans’ opening clash against Karachi Kings on 12 April. When asked by a reporter whether the team would finally start winning after “learning” for so many years, Rizwan responded in his trademark style, but not without purposely triggering a wave of laughter.
“Aapki captaincy main ab humne kaafi learn kar liya hai toh kya ab Multan Sultans win ki taraf jayegi iss baar? (Under your captaincy, we’ve done quite a bit of learning, so will Multan Sultans head toward winning this time?)
“Aisa hai ki mujhe result ki parwa nahin hai. Result allah ke haath mein hai. Allah ne jo cheez hamaare haath mein di hai, usko hum fulfil karne ki koshish karenge, chahe woh hard work ho, awareness ho. Koshish toh hum poori karenge, Allah win bhi deta hai, learn bhi deta hai. Humne usse seekhna hai. Result allah ke haath mein hai,” Rizwan said in his response.
(The thing is, I don’t care about results. Results are in Allah’s hands. What is in our hands, we’ll try to fulfill, whether it’s hard work or awareness. We will give it our all. Allah either gives a win or a lesson. We have to learn from it.)
