MI vs KKR Live Score: Five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are up against three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, March 29.
MI had finished third in the last IPL season while KKR who were the then defending champions finished at the eigth place in the 10-team league. Both the teams have retained their captains but while MI have continued with almost the same team, KKR have opted for a big reset.
Apart from finding a new combination, KKR are also struggling with injuries as pacers Harshit Rana and Akash Deep have both been ruled out of the entire season. Their Rs 18 crore buy Matheesha Pathirana too remains out of the side currently due to fitness concerns.
MI vs KKR head to head record
MI have a big advantage over KKR in terms of their past record. The MI franchise has a 24-11 lead in their head-to-head record against KKR. Apart from the history, what also goes in favour of the Hardik Pandya-led side is their stability and star power.
Apart from Pandya, MI have Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah as their star players who all were part of the 2026 T20 World Cup winning team. Rohit Sharma too is a big name and will once again be opening the batting.
Allah Ghazanfar is likely to make his IPL debut in the bowling attack led by Bumrah and also boasting of Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar.
KKR will have to find ways to fit in some big overseas names. The Kiwi opening duo of Finn Allen and Tim Siefert will both by vying for a spot while Cameron Green and Rovman Powell too are good enough to start. They have a big weakness in their pace attack but their spin duo of Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine is among the most dangerous in the league.
