Rohit Sharma turned back the clock with a vintage knock in the IPL 2025 Eliminator against Gujarat Titans on Friday. The Mumbai Indians batter reached a rare double milestone in style after he and Jonny Bairstow forged a crucial partnership to provide a solid start.
Rohit smashed Rashid Khan for a huge six over deep square leg to complete 7000 IPL runs and 300 IPL sixes in the same moment. Rohit eventually reached his half-century off just 28 balls, helping MI take the driver’s seat in this must-win Eliminator clash in New Chandigarh.
Rohit and Bairstow create history
Rohit also created history with Jonny Bairstow as the duo stitched a fiery opening stand of 84 runs in just 7.2 overs, giving Mumbai their highest-ever Powerplay score in IPL 2025 and their fourth highest overall (79/0 in 6 overs). Bairstow, playing his first game for MI, was explosive from the start, hammering 47 off just 22 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes before being dismissed by Sai Kishore.
It is also the third-highest Powerplay total ever in the IPL playoffs, which put Rohit and Bairstow’s names in the history books.
