The Mumbai Indians family has done it again as MI New York won their second Major League Cricket (MLC) title by beating Washington Freedom in a close final by just 5 runs at the Grand Prairie Stadium.
Quinton de Kock was the star of the night as he smashed a brilliant 77 runs from 46 balls, including six fours and four sixes, to help MI New York post a solid 180/7 in their 20 overs. He was well supported by Monank Patel (28) and captain Nicholas Pooran (21) as the team built two important partnerships.
In reply, Washington Freedom fought hard with a superb 70 off 41 balls from New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra and a strong unbeaten 48 from Glenn Phillips, but they could only manage 175/5. MI’s bowlers kept things tight in the end, making sure the trophy stayed in the MI camp.
This win marks Mumbai Indians’ 13th major trophy across the globe, and it’s their third title in 2025 alone. Earlier this year, MI Cape Town won the SA20 and the Mumbai Indians Women lifted the WPL 2025 trophy.
