Rishabh Pant’s batting form will be in focus as L ucknow Super Giants (LSG) take on Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The most expensive player in the history of IPL, Pant has only scored 17 runs in three innings, with his team losing two of three matches so far in IPL 2025.

Another defeat will pile up more pressure on LSG who went out of the way and spent Rs 27 crore to acquire Pant as a replacement for KL Rahul, who was released before the IPL 2025 mega auction. LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka is known for micromanaging things and there are concerns that another defeat could derail LSG’s IPL 2025 campaign.

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, come to Lucknow after winning their first IPL 2025 match on Monday, against Kolkata Knight Riders. Both teams have two points from three matches and are in the bottom half of the points table

The major concern for MI is the form of former skipper Rohit Sharma, who has only scored 21 runs in three matches including a duck.

While Lucknow will look to rediscover their form at home, MI will aim to continue their winning momentum.

Lucknow pitch and weather report

After LSG mentor Zaheer Khan lambasted the pitch curator following the defeat against Punjab Kings, there’s news that a black-soil pitch will be used at the Ekana Stadium for the match against MI. Such a pitch is expected to favour spinners more.

Weather-wise Lucknow will be hot on Friday with temperatures expected to go as high as 38 degrees Celsius but evening will be much cooler. No rain is expected.
