Why is KL Rahul not playing in DC vs LSG match?

The media reports have stated that Rahul joined the Delhi Capitals squad only on the eve of the match but flew back home to be with his wife Athiya Shetty. They are expecting their first child.

Rahul was released by Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the IPL 2025 mega Auction last November and was later signed by Delhi for Rs 14 crore.

Earlier, Alyssa Healy, wife of Rahul’s new Delhi Capitals teammate Mitchell Starc, hinted that he might be unavailable for the first few games of the season. While previewing DC on the YouTube channel LiSTNR Sport, Healy said, “No Harry Brook, so it will be interesting to see who the replacement player will be. They have KL Rahul, who will probably not play the first couple of games… they are awaiting the birth of (their) child, but that dynamic is really cool.”

She added, “They have that power in the young guys, but they also have KL Rahul, who can stitch the innings together in T20 cricket. He’s going to be really exciting to watch.”
