Kolkata Knight Riders full squad after auction: Kolkata Knight Riders, like Chennai Super Kings, had opted for an overhaul of sorts while announcing their list of retained players last month, entering the 2026 Indian Premier League auction with the highest purse (Rs 64.3 crore) as well as the most available slots (13; 6 overseas).

While they did not finish at the bottom of the table earlier this year like CSK, signing off eighth out of 10 teams a year after winning their third title will have been disappointing indeed. As a result, the Knight Riders decided to release Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, who had been retained for Rs 23.75 crore ahead of last year’s mega auction after playing a major role in helping the team win the title.

Another defining moment for KKR ahead of the retention deadline was veteran West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell announcing his IPL retirement, bringing the curtains down on an 11-year run with the ‘Purple Brigade’ during which he helped the team win two titles and finish runners-up in 2021.
