IPL Trade News LIVE Updates: Only three more days are left for the 10 Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises to finalise their list of retained and released players. The BCCI has set 15 November as the deadline for the IPL teams to announce their retained and released players. There are no caps on the number of players a team can retain, which means they can retain the entire squad.
Meanwhile, the IPL franchises are also busy making tweaks to their squads by trading or buying players. The biggest news floating around is the deal between the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Reportedly, RR is set to trade Sanju Samson to CSK for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. But a latest report says that the deal has hit a snag due to a technical issue.
Ravindra Jadeja not leaving CSK as of now
As per Cricbuzz, RR already have eight foreign players in their squad, the maximum that is allowed. In such a case, they cannot add Curran to their squad before releasing an overseas player. Which also means CSK cannot add Samson to their squad as long as RR doesn’t complete the deal.
The good news, however, is that a trade deal can take place even after the deadline for retention has lapsed. The trade window in IPL begins seven days after the season ends and remains open till a week before the auction. It reopens again after the auction and is closed 30 days before the start of the next season.
Besides Samson, KL Rahul is another big name who could be traded off. As per reports, the Kolkata Knight Riders are desperately trying to land Rahul from the Delhi Capitals as they look to release Venkatesh Iyer. However, KKR has so far failed to make a deal with DC.
