The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction will feature 350 players, including 35 new names for the remaining 77 slots, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has pruned the list of players who initially registered for the mini auction. A total of 1,355 players had registered themselves for the IPL 2026 Auction earlier his month.
The IPL 2026 Auction will take place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on 16 December. 350 players will feature in the auction as the BCCI cut down the list after 10 IPL franchises submitted their lists of players they would want to see in the auction. Approximately 1,040 players have been removed from the list.
De Kock, Wellalage added to IPL Auction list
Interestingly, 35 news names were also added to the list. These 35 players had not registered for the auction, but their names were added after IPL teams recommended these cricketers. One such name is South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock, who was released by Kolkata Knight Riders in November.
QDK has been listed in the third lot, which is for wicketkeeper/batters and his base price is set at Rs 1 crore. He was bought by KKR for Rs 2 crore in the 2025 IPL mega auction.

“The auction will feature 350 players and will commence at 1 pm UAE time (2.30 PM IST) on Tuesday, 16 December, at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi,” BCCI wrote to the franchises on Monday (8 December).
