In one of the most touching moments of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 (literally), 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi was seen taking blessings from MS Dhoni after the match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Suryavanshi touched Dhoni’s feet as a sign of respect after RR handed a 6-wicket defeat to CSK, where the former played a crucial role with the bat.

After the match ended and players from both camps lined up to shake hands, Suryavanshi went towards Dhoni and sought his blessings by touching his feet. It is important to note that the age gap between the RR opener and CSK skipper is a whopping 28 years. For context, when Dhoni won the first-ever IPL title for CSK, Suryavanshi wasn’t even born.

A video of the heartfelt gesture was shared on social media by the IPL’s official handle. The video is going viral on various platforms. It was the final league game of the season for RR and Suryavanshi knew he wouldn’t get a better opportunity than this. Who knows if Dhoni will even return for the next IPL season because he has always done things when least expected.

Suryavanshi created history when he became the youngest player to be bought in the IPL auctions last year at just 13. He had a dream debut earlier this season when he smashed a century off just 35 balls in just his third match. He became the second-fastest centurion in IPL history after the legendary Chris Gayle. He also became the youngest player to score a ton in professional T20 cricket.

In the match against CSK on Tuesday, Suryavanshi smashed 57 off just 33 balls to help RR chase down 188 runs with ease. He forged a crucial partnership with captain Sanju Samson to set the platform for an easy chase. Thanks to Suryavanshi’s effort and brilliant bowling performance from Akash Madhwal, RR finished their season on a positive note.

The youngster is most likely to be retained by RR next season. He is also being tipped to make his India debut soon. It will be interesting to follow Suryavanshi’s journey after such a promising start to his career.
