After the intense IPL 2025 Eliminator clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday (30 May) at New Chandigarh, rumours started swirling about a possible rift between GT skipper Shubman Gill and MI captain Hardik Pandya.

Mumbai Indians, who have won five IPL titles, managed to defeat Gujarat Titans in this crucial knockout game by 20 runs. However, the focus soon shifted to the alleged off-field tension between the two captains. Videos from the toss showed Gill and Pandya exchanging what looked like angry looks.

Later, Pandya’s celebration after Gill got out during the chase of 229 seemed a bit too enthusiastic, which many fans took as a sign of a rift between the two. However, Gill quickly put these rumours to rest by sharing an Instagram story.

In his post, Gill wrote, “Nothing but love (Don’t believe everything you see on the internet).” This message made it clear that there was no bad feeling between him and his former GT teammate and captain.

Hardik Pandya also shared a supportive message for Shubman Gill on his Instagram story, writing, “Always, Shubhu baby,” sharing the same story that the newly-appointed Test captain uploaded earlier.

MI face PBKS challenge in Qualifier 2

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians will face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025 on Sunday (1 June). The match is scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. MI hold a slight advantage over PBKS with 17 wins against their 15. MI are coming on the back of a victory and will be high on confidence.

Punjab Kings, on the other hand, suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Qualifier 1. They finished the league phase at the top of the points table but haven’t played their best cricket in the past few of games. PBKS will look to bounce back strongly in Qualifier 2.
