An iconic Indian Premier League (IPL) match is lined up for Saturday (3 May) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium between arch-rivals Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, the RCB vs CSK clash could get impacted by rain.
What makes a match between RCB and CSK special is not just the fact that they are one of the highest-followed IPL franchises but also the match-up between two former Indian captains – Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Kohli’s friendship with Dhoni is well known and it’s the last time this season that they will come face to face.
CSK are already out of the IPL 2025 and currently occupy the last spot in the points table, while RCB are third and comfortably placed to reach the playoffs.
The RCB vs CSK match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium could also turn out to be the last match between Kohli and Dhoni in case the former decides to retire from IPL after the 2025 season.

Nonetheless, for now, these are just rumours. What isn’t a rumour is rain in Bengaluru. It has rained in Bengaluru in the last two days and more rain is expected on Saturday.

As per the met department, there’s a 70% chance of rain in Bengaluru on Saturday. “Rain or thundershowers would occur towards afternoon or evening,” says the Met department. The AccuWeather has also predicted a “stray afternoon thunderstorm.”
Rain also played spoilsport during the training sessions yesterday as CSK’s training was halted for 45 minutes, while RCB could only train for about an hour before rain cancelled it.
Last month, RCB’s match against Punjab Kings in Bengaluru was shortened to a 14-over-a-side contest due to rain.
If the RCB vs CSK is washed out due to rain, then Kohli’s team will get one point.
