Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) equalled an unwanted Indian Premier League (IPL) record after losing to Gujarat Titans at home on Wednesday. Mohammed Siraj sizzled on his return to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium as GT thrashed RCB by eight wickets.

This was RCB’s first defeat in IPL 2025 after a solid start to the season. However, this one defeat has turned RCB’s win/loss ratio at home into negative. In fact, RCB and Delhi Capitals (DC) are the only two teams in the IPL to have a negative win/loss ratio at home.

RCB also equalled DC for most losses at a single venue in IPL after the defeat to Gujarat.

While DC have suffered 44 losses at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, RCB have been defeated 44 times at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood picked a wicket each for RCB.

“Not 200, we were targeting around 190 after the powerplay, but losing early wickets harmed this match,” RCB skipper Rajat Patidar said after the loss. “I think the intent was good, but we shouldn’t have lost as many as 3 wickets in the PP, it was one wicket too many.

“The conditions did get better, the bowlers were amazing trying to defend this total, to take this chase into the 18th over was amazing to watch. The way Jitesh, Liam Livingstone, and Tim David, the way they batted, it was a positive for us. We’re confident about the batting line-up, they’re showing some positive intent which is very good for us.”

Bengaluru’s next match is against Mumbai Indians at the Wnjhede Stadium on Monday.
