The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 playoffs matches have been finalised with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinching the second spot in the points table on Tuesday. The four teams for the playoffs were decided a while back, but the secrecy around who will clinch the top two spots continued till the last two matches and now we have Punjab Kings (PBKS) finishing at the top and qualifying for Qualifier 1.
RCB defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSK) in a thrilling contest to clinch the second spot and will be joining PBKS in the Qualifier 1. The Eliminator will be played between the teams finishing third and fourth.
Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans (GT) finished in third with 18 points, while five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) were the last team to reach the playoffs by securing the fourth spot in the points table with 16 points.
GT and MI will take on each other in the Eliminator.
IPL 2025 playoffs format
Before we share the complete schedule, match time and venue for all playoff matches, here’s a look at the format.
The first match in the playoffs will be Qualifier 1. This will be played between the top two teams and the winner will directly reach the final. The loser will not be eliminated but will move to Qualifier 2.
The second team in Qualifier 2 will be decided by the Eliminator, so the winner of the GT vs MI match will take part in Qualifier 2 and the losing team from this match will be out of IPL 2025.
The Qualifier 2 will be used to decide the second finalist.
