The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is ready to start again on 17 May with a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The tournament had to be stopped after 58 matches because of a security issue due to the India-Pakistan conflict.

The BCCI stopped IPL 2025 after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals game in Dharamsala was interrupted midway. There were air strikes from Pakistan in the nearby areas during the match and as a safety step, the floodlights were turned off and everyone in the stadium was evacuated.

The BCCI arranged a special train next morning to bring all players and support staff back to Delhi and then officially suspended the tournament. India and Pakistan eventually agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire and after that, the BCCI announced that the IPL 2025 would continue from 17 May to 3 June.

But there is a new problem now. Many overseas players are not coming back to play the remaining matches. Some are still worried about safety and others have national duties. Some IPL teams have already picked new players to replace the ones who are not returning.

List of replacements for the remainder of IPL 2025:

Punjab Kings (PBKS):

Kyle Jamieson has replaced Lockie Ferguson, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Mitchell Owen has replaced Glenn Maxwell, who suffered a finger injury and left the tournament before suspension.

Gujarat Titans (GT):

Kusal Mendis has been brought in for Jos Buttler, who has left to prepare for England’s limited-overs series against the West Indies.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):

William O’Rourke has replaced Mayank Yadav, who has been ruled out due to a back injury.

Mumbai Indians (MI):

Jonny Bairstow has replaced Will Jacks, who has joined the England squad for their series against the West Indies.

Richard Gleeson has replaced Ryan Rickelton, who has left to join the South African Test team for the WTC final.
