Suspended due to the India-Pakistan military conflict, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to resume either on May 16 or 17 with the possibility of the final being moved out of Kolkata.

The IPL Governing Council members and the BCCI officials discussed the resumption plan on Sunday.

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said the board is still working on creating a suitable schedule.

“As of now there is no decision on IPL. BCCI officials are working out on the solutions. BCCI secretary, IPL Chairman are in talks with franchises and everyone, so very soon we will know about the decision, efforts are being made to resume the tournament early,” said Shukla.

“All the teams have been asked to call back their players, the tournament will resume either on May 16 or 17 in Lucknow. The final schedule will be shared tomorrow (Monday),” a source told PTI.

“Most likely the matches will be held at four venues and Delhi and Dharamsala won’t get to host more matches. All the equipment has already been removed from these venues,” added the source.

“As of now there is no change in venues for the play-off stage but it seems rain can affect the final in Kolkata. In that case the final could be played in Ahmedabad,” said the source.

IPL 2025 Live Updates: Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the BCCI's meeting on Sunday, 11 May to discuss the resumption of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League

Follow our live blog as we track the latest updates on the meeting as well as on other IPL-related updates.

BCCI meeting on IPL 2025 LIVE Updates: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be meeting on Sunday, 11 May in order to discuss the possibility of restarting the Indian Premier League later this week among other topics. The BCCI had put the 18th IPL season on hold on Friday, two days after calling off the Punjab Kings-Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala due to ongoing hostilities that have broken out between India and Pakistan following the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on 22 April.

Follow all developments on India-Pakistan tensions, Operation Sindoor and ceasefire announcement

The BCCI’s meeting will also be taking place a day after India and Pakistan had arrived at a ceasefire agreement that was initiated by Islamabad and mediated by the United States of American. The truce, however, would be broken just hours later by Pakistan as their armed forces targeted Srinagar as well as parts of Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat located close to the border with drone and artillery attacks.

The BCCI not only will have to decide whether they intend to restart the ongoing IPL season by Thursday or Friday as soon as the week-long suspension comes to an end, they will also have to decide whether to conduct the remaining matches in the southern and eastern part of the country – well beyond the reach of the Pakistan armed forces, as well as the challenge of bringing foreign players back to their respective franchises.
