Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) home game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been rescheduled from 6 to 8 April after days of speculation regarding the security situation in the ‘City of Joy’. However, the upcoming fixture, which will be the 19th match of the season, will take place at Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens instead of Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium, as speculated earlier.
Ramnavami the reason for KKR-LSG game getting rescheduled
The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) made the decision following a request from Kolkata Police, who will be busy providing security cover in the West Bengal capital for Ramnavami festivities.
“The decision follows a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) regarding the deployment of personnel across the city owing to festivities,” the BCCI said in a press release.
“The authorities have recommended that the game be moved to Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 3:30 PM, and the request has been accommodated accordingly,” it added.
Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Snehashish Ganguly, brother of batting legend and former India and KKR captain Sourav Ganguly, had recently told PTI they too had urged the BCCI to reschedule the match.
Eden had earlier hosted the opening match of the season in which the defending champions lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by seven wickets after a star-studded opening ceremony.

As a result of the schedule change, 6 April will have just one game – the evening fixture involving Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans in Hyderabad – instead of being a Sunday double header.
KKR and LSG, meanwhile, will lock horns on Tuesday afternoon, ahead of the Punjab Kings’ home game against Chennai Super Kings in Mullanpur near Chandigarh.
