Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally won their first-ever IPL title on Tuesday as they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Krunal Pandya was named the Player of the Match as RCB successfully defended a 191-run target in front of a jam-packed crowd.
Earlier, Virat Kohli helped RCB lay down the foundation stone with his 43-run knock after PBKS won the toss and elected to bowl first. PBKS got off to a flying start in their chase with Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, and Josh Inglis providing some firepower, but Krunal Pandya’s bowling pulled things back for RCB.
As RCB won the match, players and support staff stormed onto the field to celebrate the historic moment. Kohli was seen breaking down in tears as the final balls were being bowled. RCB skipper Rajat Patidar dedicated the win to Kohli and fans, who waited for 18 long years.
