Shreyas Iyer led from the front with an unbeaten 97 in his maiden outing as PBKS skipper. Later in the evening, a game-changing spell from Vijaykumar Vyshak along with Arshdeep Singh twin-strike in the final over ensured the Titans fell marginally short despite solid contributions from the top-four, including Sai Sudharsan’s 41-ball 74.
Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya, meanwhile, will be making his first appearance of the season after sitting out of the match against CSK due to a suspension . It will also be his second IPL appearance at the Narendra Modi Stadium since his shocking move to MI from GT ahead of the player auction in December 2023.
Pandya had been vehemently booed by the Motera crowd as his team suffered a narrow six-run defeat. However, with the seam-bowling all-rounder having regained the support of Indian cricket fans by starring in the Men in Blue’s triumphs in the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy, he has every right to expect a very different response this time.
