Punjab Kings’ all-rounder Glenn Maxwell etched his name in the IPL record books for an unwanted reason as he registered his 19th duck in the tournament’s history. The Australian star was dismissed for a first-ball duck against Gujarat Titans in their IPL 2025 opener on Tuesday, reclaiming the record for most ducks in the IPL, just two days after Rohit Sharma had equaled the tally.

Maxwell, known for his explosive batting, fell for a golden duck when Gujarat Titans’ spinner R Sai Kishore trapped him LBW in Punjab Kings’ IPL 2025 encounter. This dismissal pushed Maxwell ahead of Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik, who were tied at 18 ducks before Tuesday’s match.

IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans vs Punjab Kings

Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings played their opening game of the IPL 2025 season in Ahmedabad. GT won the toss and elected to field first. The wicket provided PBKS with a huge boost as they needed a breakthrough at that time. Punjab went on to win the match by 11 runs as they restricted Gujarat to 232/5 in 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh picked up two wickets in the final over to close the game.
