The passion for cricket in India is unparalleled and this was once again on display during the Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2025 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. A fan breached security and invaded the pitch in the 12th over of KKR’s innings to touch Riyan Parag’s feet before embracing him. Parag, a local boy, was captaining RR in place of regular skipper Sanju Samson at their second home venue in the IPL.
The incident occurred just as Parag was about to bowl to Quinton de Kock. The fan managed to evade security and sprint onto the field, creating an unexpected halt in the match. While the security personnel quickly intervened and escorted the fan away, the moment left many stunned, including the players and spectators present at the stadium.

Possible punishment for the fan
This is the second such instance of a pitch invasion in IPL 2025. During the season opener at Eden Gardens, a fan had similarly breached security during the Kolkata Knight Riders’ match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to touch India legend Virat Kohli’s feet. The offender in that case was reportedly arrested and later granted conditional bail by the Bankshall Court in Kolkata.
According to reports, the individual was required to pay a bail bond of Rs 1,000. Furthermore, he was banned from entering the Eden Gardens stadium. The police were also instructed to ensure that he did not purchase tickets for any of the remaining matches in Kolkata.

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) and local law enforcement are expected to take strict measures to deter such incidents in the future as they compromise players’ safety and hamper the flow of the game.
What happened in the RR vs KKR match?
As far as the match is concerned, RR lost by 8 wickets thanks to KKR’s brilliant bowling and effortless batting. Kolkata restricted Rajasthan to a paltry score of 151/9 in 20 overs after winning the toss and electing to bowl first. Varun Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali played a key role along with contributions from Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, and Spencer Johnson.
KKR then chased down the target with ease, with Quinton de Kock hitting an unbeaten 97 and finishing the game off with a six.
