Earlier in the match, the Capitals posted a solid 188/5 thanks to a composed 49 from Abishek Porel and explosive late cameos from captain Axar Patel (34 off 14) and Stubbs (34 not out off 18 balls). Rajasthan looked in control during the chase with Yashasvi Jaiswal (51) and Nitish Rana (51) guiding the innings, but once both were dismissed, the momentum shifted and DC won the first home game of the season.

Starc holds his nerve to seal DC’s first home win

Starc, who was hit around early in the innings, bounced back in style and was named Player of the Match for his brilliance under pressure. Speaking after the game, he said, “Just backed my execution. Run in with a clear plan and try to execute it. Sometimes it doesn’t come off, today it did.”

On bowling the Super Over and almost giving away a no-ball, he admitted, “It was a fantastic game, happy to get on the right side. I’ve played long enough for everyone to know what I’d do, but if I execute then I know I’ll get by. A bit of luck goes a long way.”

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel couldn’t stop praising Starc either as he said, “I thought if Starc could execute, he could bring us back in the game. He bowled the 20th over and the Super Over. To bowl 12 yorkers in 12 balls… that’s why he’s an Australian legend.”
