The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 resumed on Saturday night after a week-long break but rain spoiled the much-awaited clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, there is something special that happened during the rain delay.
BCCI’s tribute to Indian armed forces
As fans waited in the stands hoping for the rain to stop, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) paid tribute to the Indian armed forces. A large message was shown on the stadium’s giant screen thanking the Indian military. This gesture has been shown amid the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.
The IPL 2025 was suspended on 9 May due to tensions along the India-Pakistan border. The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was disrupted due to Pakistani strikes in nearby areas. The BCCI arranged a train next morning and brought everyone involved in the conduct of the match back to Delhi.
After a tense week, the tournament finally restarted on Saturday. But the restart didn’t go as planned with the RCB vs KKR game affected by non-stop rain in Bengaluru. The cut-off time for a reduced match is 10:56 PM. If the match is abandoned, both teams will be awarded a point each.
KKR will be eliminated from the tournament as they need full points from tonight’s game to stay alive. RCB, on the other hand, will go on top of the IPL 2025 points table with 17 points.
