Rohit Sharma sent a clear message of his wishes to continue playing for India as he successfully passed a fitness test over the weekend at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, along with other Indian cricketers like Shubman Gill. Besides Rohit and Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Washington Sundar, and Shardul Thakur also cleared the fitness tests, the PTI reported.
Indian cricketers underwent the regular Yo-Yo test and also a DXA Scan. The report did not mention players taking the newly-introduced Bronco Test ahead of the Asia Cup 2025.
Rohit sends strong message regarding India future
The Yo-Yo test involves players running between two cones set 20 meters apart with increasing speed regulated by beep noises. Players are also given a brief break during the shuttle runs between the cones and test stops after a player fails to keep up with the beeps, which is then recorded as their level of endurance.
The Yo-Yo test has been part of the Indian cricket team’s setup for a while, especially since its introduction under former captain Virat Kohli.
The DXA scan is a medical scan similar to the MRI, which is used to measure bone mineral density, body fat, and lean muscle mass with the help of low-dose X-rays. The DXA scan helps in assessing injury risk, especially fractures.
While Rohit passed the test, he is not going to be a part of the Indian cricket team that will travel to the UAE soon for the Asia Cup 2025, which will be played in the T20 format. Rohit’s next assignment with the national team will be in the ODI series in Australia in October.
Virat Kohli, who will also return to the ODIs in October, is yet to undergo the fitness Tests as he is now living in London.
There have been rumours that Rohit and Kohli may quit ODIs after the Australia tour, but there has been no confirmation of the same. Both batting stalwarts have already retired from Tests and T20Is.

More ShortsGill’s successful results in the fitness tests have also come as a huge relief for BCCI after the Test captain was forced to miss the Duleep Trophy due to illness . Gill also underwent some blood tests, but no major issue was raised.
