The Indian cricket team is set to start the Asia Cup 2025 without a shirt sponsor as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doesn’t expect a new jersey sponsor to be in place before 16 September 2025. The Indian cricket team is in search of a new lead sponsor after terminating its contract with Dream11 .
BCCI ended its contract with Dream11 after the fantasy gaming app’s real-money offerings were banned by the Indian government through the Online Gaming Bill 2025. Dream11 had joined BCCI in 2023 on a Rs 358 crore three-year deal as it became the jersey sponsor for all Indian cricket teams, from senior to age groups and across genders.
BCCI begins search for new jersey sponsor
The BCCI, on Tuesday, launched the search for a new sponsor as it invited bids “from reputed entities for acquiring the National Team Lead Sponsor Rights.”
The Indian cricket board has issued an Invitation for Expression of Interest for National Team Lead Sponsor Rights (“IEOI”). Interested brands can acquire the IEOI by paying a non-refundable fee of Rs 5 lakh plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax.
The last date to purchase the IEOI is 12 September 2025, while the last date to submit the bid documents is 16 September 2025. Which means the Indian cricket team may get a shirt sponsor before the Asia Cup 2025 final, which is scheduled for 28 September.
India start their campaign against the UAE in Dubai on 10 September, and their next match is against arch-rivals Pakistan on 14 September. India are expected to be without a shirt sponsor in the mega match against Pakistan.
Also, a report in The Economic Times states that the BCCI is hoping to secure around Rs 452 crore with the new deal, which will run from 2025 to 2028, covering about 140 matches.
