Indian wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel showed why he deserves a place in the team as he pulled off a stunning catch in the first Test against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, October 2. Jurel was brought into the playing XI to replace Rishabh Pant, who is out injured since the England tour.
Jurel turns a flying bird
In just the second over of the match, Jurel displayed incredible reflexes and athleticism and didn’t take long to make an impact. A ball from Mohammed Siraj went down the leg side to West Indies’ Tegnarine Chanderpaul, who edged it. Jurel dived to his left from the second slip region and held on to a sensational catch.
Later in the innings, Jurel continued his excellent work behind the stumps, taking another catch off Jasprit Bumrah to dismiss John Campbell. His performance showed maturity and confidence, making a strong case for him to stay in the red-ball squad even after Rishabh Pant returns.
