India vs South Africa ODI series starts on Sunday (30 November) with the first match taking place at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium in Ranchi. The ODI series marks the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to international cricket after a gap of over one month.
The three-match ODI series in October in Australia, which India lost 2-1, was Rohit and Kohli’s first international assignments since they retired from Tests. The veterans took time to get going in the ODIs due to a lack of match practice, having retired from T20Is as well. But they ended the Australia ODI series with big scores in the last game at Sydney.

Hence, all eyes will be on Rohit and Kohli’s form once again in the ODI series against South Africa. Especially in the absence of regular captain Shubman Gill, who is out of ODIs due to a neck injury, while Shreyas Iyer is also missing. Iyer is currently recovering from the spleen injury he suffered in Australia.
Rishabh Pant, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma have been added to the ODI squad. Stand-in captain KL Rahul confirmed on Saturday that Pant will be playing in the first ODI at Ranchi. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal could replace Gill at the top.

Meanwhile, South Africa will be captained by inspirational leader Temba Bavuma. But the Proteas are missing Kagiso Rabada due to a rib injury.
