Shivam Dube comes to bowl and does the formality of taking the final wicket to help India win the match. As easy as it gets for India. They continue to dominate the T20Is. exceptional performance. Total domination yet again tonight.

Axar Patel comes back to bowl and immediately gets his second wicket. Full and floaty from Axar and Anrich Nortje misses it completely. The ball just keeps going straight and crashes into the middle stump.

Indian bowlers are now just toying with the Proteas tail. This is a short ball from Jasprit Bumrah. Keshav Maharaj tries to defend but the ball just balloons up from his bat and lands into Jitesh Sharma’s gloves. Bumrah takes two wickets in this over and the match is quickly moving towards its end.

That should be the game then… Dewald Brevis is gone. India get the seventh wicket and this is Jasprit Bumrah’s 100th wicket in this format. Only the second bowler after Arshdeep Singh to reach this milestone. With Brevis gone, South Africa’s hopes of winning are also mostly done.

The batters just keep coming and going. It is a procession. Marco Jansen wants to play straight off the backfoot but the ball is a little full and it sneaks through to hit the stumps. Just before this Jansen had launched Chakravarthy for a six over mid-wicket but the Indian spinner has replied in some style.

Marco Jansen holds his shape as the last ball of the over sails over long-off for a six. Hardik is a little full this time and Jansen comes underneath the ball with his back knee collapsed. He then launches the ball over mid-off for a six.

Donovan Ferreira is gone! Varun Chakravarthy comes back into the attack and he gets a wicket just with his second ball. Good length delivery and Ferreira wants to cut but the bounce beats him. It is an outside edge, straight into the mitts of Jitesh Sharma.

Hardik Pandya gets into the attack and strikes with his very first ball. David Miller’s return to Proteas’ side ends in just three balls. He walks back for one. It is a good length delivery which comes back in slightly towards Miller who inside edges the ball to the wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma

Despite the wickets, Dewald Brevis is not holding back. On the final ball of the powerplay, he goes down town again to find a boundary. Full from Axar and Brevis hits it hard over mid-on for a four.

Axar Patel hits the top of leg stump and Aiden Markram’s time in the middle comes to an end. Straight and quick from Axar, Markram tries to go on the backfoot but misses the ball completely to get his leg stump rocked.

Dewald Brevis takes on Varun Chakravarthy. The right-hander slams a four and then launches a big six down the ground. Chakravarthy bowled a little too full in this over and pays with 12 runs.

Hardik Pandya remains unbeaten on 59 off 26 balls, helping himself to a four two balls after the six. Nortje signs off on a tidy note, conceding a single in each of the last two deliveries to finish wicketless for 41 runs in his first outing since the 2024 T20 World Cup final. Jitesh remains unbeaten on 10 off 5, collecting a six along the way.

Excellent recovery by the Indians after finding themselves at 104/6 in 14 overs.

Tilak’s looking to attack Nortje from the outset of his second over, attempting a scoop against a delivery that’s just short of the 150kmph mark. The southpaw, who had starred in India’s epic triumph over Pakistan in the Asia Cup final, connects two balls later and sends the ball onto the Barabati roof beyond the midwicket fence with a powerful pull, resulting in an 89m hit. Eight off Nortje’s second over as India reach 71/3 at the halfway stage. 

Proteas skipper Markram, meanwhile, had introduced spin from the other end with Keshav Maharaj conceding nine in his first over, including three to Axar in the second delivery.
